Spring Grandeur Mixed Media Collage & Acrylic on Canvas This painting, which measures 40"x60", is painted on a 1.5" gallery wrapped wrap canvas. The edges of this panel are painted with some papers overlapping to reveal the process. This gorgeous painting was initially created with an acrylic under-painting. I then collaged over the iris blossoms and portions of the background with hand painted found papers- including musical sheets, sewing patterns, and gift tissues- leaving some areas of the under painting peeking through. I accented the painting's surface with papers kissed with metallic hues. For me, one of the greatest experiences is looking at the piece I am working on and realizing I am looking at something no one in the world has ever seen before.
