Outer Air

My work is imbued with the beauty I find in urban landscapes. I am attracted to the images and textures that have occurred over time on buildings and objects, through the effects of humans and nature. I create my work through the manipulation of collage, oil and acrylic paints, and drawing pencils. The intuitive palette in this painting is inspired by colours one might find in early comic books. The images and forms are not drawn from a visible, objective world. The unstructured composition places emphasis on spontaneous, expressive qualities. Outer Air depicts a playful romp in the stratosphere.

The painting is to be hung by a picture hanger, using the hanging wire that is between two 3/4' hardwood slats on the back. The slats of wood allow the painting to "float" off the wall beautifully, in a very distinct style that enhances the appearance of the work. Keep out of direct sunlight and humid conditions. Clean with a dry, soft microfiber duster.

STATEMENT

My work is imbued with the beauty I find in urban landscapes. I am attracted to the images and textures that have occurred over time on buildings and objects, through the effects of humans and nature. I create my work through the manipulation of collages, as well as oil and acrylic paints, and drawing pencils. No certain sense of what will come next, images manifest yet remain undetermined. The meaning in my work is irreducible to a single thought or idea. It is as abstract as it is significant.
