STATEMENT

My creative process is focus primarily on my passion for color, my fascination with natural forms and the physical interactions of materials. My approach is rooted in improvisation and revision. I work with the canvas on the floor to have optimal control of the flow of my oil paint mixture. Like most of my work, this piece "Glacier" is inspired by the organic forms and textures of nature. In creating it, I continue to explore a personal technique that is analogous to the fluid geological processes that shape our environment. The painting evolves in layers, manifesting a kind of dialogue between my emotions and the chemical reactions of the materials.

BIO

Annette Poitau oil paintings are abstract. The image evolve in layers. Poitau pour a fluid mix of oil paint, varnish, and turpentine over the canvas and brushwork in layers.
French-born American artist Annette received her MFA from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. She also studied at the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City. After showing her work extensively in France. Annette set up her studio in Oberlin, OH. Annette Poitau’s intriguing textured abstract oil paintings can be seen in private and public collections in the U.S., Europe and Japan.
