SCULPTURE

A mix of Sculpture I have enjoyed making through out the years!
stop back in – I will be adding to the portfolio…little by little!

Hoping i can find a sculpture studio one day to return to metals and clay! Really Really miss it!

"the Teacher"Wood, brass nails @8 feet h x 1 foot w x 1 foot d available for purchase was carved with two chiesels by hand, burned in pit to create the patina you see.
"the teacher" was carved from one Fur Beam that I carried on foot years ago some 5 miles. I had such a strong desire to carve out what i sensed was calling from within the grain!
This is a photo of where it lay_ as i took the chance to burn it after many attempts to paint it. I decided that fire was needed to burn off the paint that was taking away from its form. I lay it in its wood chips and lit a match not knowing what would become of it. A dance of rain and wind began and I decided to step back and allow the magic to begin. If i lost the work I would not loose the experience of making it. this work taught me a great deal about trust. Trust in the work- always.

"let's Dance" cement diptich -photo from Exhibit at Marshal Fredericks Musuem exhibit. Cement diptych @ 19″ h x 7″ W x 8″ d available for purchase “Let’s dance” was a fun work to make. Small enough to handle and easy to transport! My goal was to make a series of smaller cement studies for future work to come. I am known to dance while I Make my artwork- usually with my Australian shepherd dogs. I have always been intrigued by ‘the figurative’ and continue to explore art making in intuitive ways of seeing and feeling. I also love to juxtapose family memorabilia into the work. In this case_ an earring from one of my grandmother’s. “Let’s Dance” A dance for peace and healing–an instrument that sings and dances of those I have lost and loved. It is a reminder that we are all connected in spirit.
