The Folly of Hope

(24” x 36”, acrylics on canvas)

My painting depicts hope as a lovely, if not impoverish demon child, her hair adorned with both living and dead flowers. Hope is always part Angel, part demon, a heavenly comforter or a deceiving illusionist. Sometimes, hope can be a merciless enemy when it lets us down one more time still, it’s hold us in its thrall, although it’s blessings are purely random. Will Hope rescue the injured doves, or is she ready to Dash one, or both, to the ground? We don’t really know; such is always the nature of hope.
