For an entire day in October, 2019 the Detroit Center for Design + Technology in Midtown Detroit hummed with intense energy!
In our Detroit Portfolio Review, diverse reviewers (gallery directors, curators and media professionals) took turns speaking with artists about their practice, offering marketing ideas and connections to exhibits.
Since there hasn’t been a fine art and design portfolio review in Detroit in about thirty years we knew that this initiative was going to be a success, and it was.
Most of all, the face-to-face interaction brought invaluable perspective into my artwork & direction
This Portfolio Review in Detroit was a valuable opportunity to have my work seen by members of the art community that I otherwise would not have access to.
Most of all, I appreciated the feedback and discussions I had with the reviewers, along with suggestions for exhibition venues and opportunities.
The reviewers gave me a new perspective on my work and point me in directions I hadn’t considered.
The most valuable part of the event to me was helping artists get to the place they want to be. I have a teacher’s soul and like to help people move along their path.
I became a reviewer in order to find some new, promising artists for my gallery, and I did!
Had a fantastic time, and met some wonderful artists!
