This second exhibition in my new gallery, EC Detroit is special because it does something that not a lot of gallery’s do – it shines a spotlight on the outdoor art and interiors industry.

While planning exhibition ideas, I realized that I had not seen a lot of shows catering specifically to people who are looking to for outdoor artworks for their home or business. Sure, you can find sculptures or pieces that can be hung on an outdoor wall but not a full exhibition dedicated to creativity outside.  And because EC Detroit is a combination interiors showroom and art gallery, my co-curator, Erica Kimber, Director of Design + Workplace Strategy at Castell, curated in gorgeous outdoor furniture from Vondom, Seibold + Baker, and Teknion to compliment the original artwork being displayed.

Step into a curated 3500 sq. ft sanctuary where the realms of indoor elegance and outdoor allure converge seamlessly.  OUTSIDE/IN greets you with approximately forty artworks ranging from ceramics vessels you can place on a poolside table or shelf, to outdoor sculptures for your garden, to oversized biophilia wall art perfect for corporate settings.

Erica and I brought in outdoor sculpture from important Detroit artists such as Lois Teicher, Mark Beltchenko, Foster Willey, and Jim Miller-Melberg (1929-2017) and we reached beyond metro Detroit to incorporated wall art from Arizona, Colorado, New York, and California.

Nestled within this indoor gallery, discover a vignettes of artistic innovation and the allure of open-air living. Sculptures and newly painted murals emerge as captivating focal points, serving as gateways to an external realm where art seamlessly extends beyond the confines of walls.

Although many of the artworks are made to be displayed outdoors 24/7, 365 there are others that are seasonal. The artworks labeled, seasonal are best displayed inside 3-season rooms or moved indoors when the weather turns. The commercial furniture curated by Erica and Castell is made for year-round outdoor use.

OUTSIDE /IN unfolds as a narrative, inviting visitors to envision these masterpieces adorning their own patios, poolside retreats, or lush gardens. Come inside to transcend the traditional gallery experience. Explore the symbiotic relationship between fine art and the great outdoors—an ode to the transformative power of art in turning every corner of our lives into a masterpiece.

Embrace Creatives is the official art partner of Ideation Orange (IO), an experiential branding company, and EC Detroit is happily situated inside their Hazel Park business. IO’s “Gallery” is an art gallery curated by EC, as well as a corporate event space. In order to cater to large groups, IO has added two lounge areas inside the gallery.  The lounge furniture is a compliment to my fine art exhibitions and bring a different vibe. EC Detroit is not a stuffy art gallery but a warm and inviting space for corporate events.
