Qabob

Throughout human history our food has been cooked over an open fire with dancing flames. Bright colors and abstract patterns give a sense of movement and vibrancy to the sculpture. Metal rods remove from the base for shipping, would need to slide into hole, fabric may need to be straightened out a bit. Dust occasionally.

dimensions 4′ (part of shade & shadows series)

One of the more refined whitewash series pieces. The series started as Contemporary – Abstract Geometric designs all made out of ‘rough sawn wood’ and somewhat undetectable from afar(looked quite refined when viewed from afar), but highly visible upon a closer view. However, as the pieces were made, the feedback was for a more refined […]

Zen Squiggle

Zen squiggle is an elegant form designed to bring calm and meditative energy into your interior space. With undulating waves and graceful curves, it recalls minimalist gardens and tranquil landscapes.

Wave in the Sun

I salvage vinyl street banners before they are discarded in landfills and use the words, colors and imagery, as a powerful starting point in my process. Reclaimed billboard vinyl are message boards of societies, conjuring both place and time through a physical presence. I meticulously hand cut the material into strips which fractures the initial […]

Wave Rhythm

This work is an optical play with colors and screens. Colors change and shift as you move passed the piece. It shimmers and visually vibrates with wavy moiré lines that dance about. (The wavy lines seen in the photographs are purely optical. There is not a wavy line anywhere in the piece.) This wall sculpture […]

Vessels for Other Life Forms (blue)

I’m interested in how we can be vessels for other beings, some beneficial and some harmful. Bacteria preside on our skin and live in our bodies. The pandemic has also demonstrated that the boundaries of our bodies are more permeable than we think. Thus, I build beings that defy categorization. In this manner they act […]

uncanny brood

Through biomorphic metal and plant assemblages, primarily I investigate interspecies connections to understand how I affect non-human beings and the ecosystem, and my embedded connection within the lived environment. I enjoy the contrasting interaction of hard and soft materials; thus I combine steel with fabric and felt. Lately, I have been pushing my creatures to […]

Tokyo Squiggle

Tokyo Squiggle is part of my Squiggle Series – hanging abstract wall sculptures

Peppina

Peppina is named after my mother, who’s nickname is “Pina”. This sculpture is a vulnerable guardian, affectionately carrying relics that remind me of my mom: lace and a flower from her garden that I dried and saved. A sleeping fox in a fetal position, reminiscent of the comfort of the womb.

Ravena

Ravena is a familiar who carries rose petals from your loved one bestowing a message of affection. I modeled her after an owl and a dragon, creating a fantastical creature. The dried rose petals in the vial she carries are real roses that my loved one has given me.

Elithia

Elithia is a name meaning “verity” and “truth”. This sculpture is a mystical guardian, and serves as a vessel for the matchstick quartz and amethyst crystals it holds. Bats have rich cultural associations with nighttime, the macabre and spooky, and vampires. I like to play on that and portray them for their beauty as well.

Guardian of Jewels

Guardian of Jewels, a gentle and ferocious protector, a hardened beast that compassionately cares for the childhood self it always carries. The portrait is of my childhood dog who passed away recently. The sculpted creature is her guardian, and also the guardian of the symbol of my childhood. It is a reflection of myself and […]

Moonflower

My Moonflower sculpture is inspired by the moonflower itself, also known as tropical white morning glories. They bloom nocturnally, hence the nickname. I wanted to create a sculpture that would embody this flower in creature form, not any specific animal in particular, but a hybrid, otherworldly creature. A lot of my creatures I see as […]
