Lakeview Theater Lights

The Lakeview Theater was a staple in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago before it was bought and changed to a Laugh Factory just after 2010. I lived in this neighborhood for years, and passed by this theater at least once a day as I made my way around my daily life. I always loved the […]

Roof

My father worked in Thailand for a little while when I was in my early 20s, and I had the chance to visit him a few times. One of those times I was riddled with jet lag and was up at some odd, early, hour of the morning and saw this from my window, there […]

Taugahonnock Passages

The word photography literally means “drawing or writing with light”. With that in mind I’m always drawn to photographic opportunities that offer a soft focus or reflections especially of water where an artistic echo of a scene is revealed. The end result typically translates a straightforward image into an a painterly contemplative image of tranquility […]

Stairway To

The sleek, crisp geometric lines and bold vibrant colors caught my eye immediately. The minimalist staircase alongside the simple color palette of the wall reminded me of an endless flight to the unknown, thus “Stairway to” what?

Into the Woods

Wandering off the established trail I came upon an enchanted forest. Standing atop the ridge the scene unfolding before me was breathtaking. An absolute spectacle of dramatic and austere beauty with a hint of haunting elegance. The soft pink foliage and dappling of light and shadow cast a meditative spell.

Neon Nights

Night lighting often inspires me to use the light and color to create patterns and shapes creating a new abstract interpretation. The end result is fun, eye-catching, glowing and colorful while using the night sky as a perfect background.

Staghorn Splash

Landscapes are my favorite genre for exploring the world of possibilities where the visual language of shape, form, color and line offers no limitations or boundaries. However with abstract art, reality is subjective and it’s up to you to define it. So take the challenge and let your mind wander. Here’s a hint….the title may […]

Still Life of Fruit and Glassware

Dutch painters were masters of natural light and shadow. So too in photography, light is everything. Lighting is a key factor in setting the tone, mood, and atmosphere. This playful image takes advantage of light sources to create drama to a still life of fruit and glassware. The end result always reminded me of the […]

Waves

The waves roll in, each of them as strong and bold as the last. They come without fear of the beach, embracing their destiny upon the sandy shore. Each hue is made more pretty by the lace-like brilliant white foam crests. © Angela Abraham

Celestial Rain

Landscape photography is my wheelhouse. Rather than offering the typical traditional view, I like to imagine the “what if” rather than “what is”. The primary subject of this image is a gathering of trees in a fall landscape. However with a little inspiration and magic I am able to re-interpret the commonplace and use my […]

Floral Flash

The ordinary and commonplace offer brilliant alternatives if one is ready to see the world through fresh ideas. I prefer to capture elements of everyday landscapes and showcase the potential. This originated as a small wedding bouquet of flowers that I merely added a little pizzazz.

Homage to Kertesz

An homage is a respectful attempt to honor the influence of another artist. In this case I created a re-mix of one of my favorite photographers, Andre Kertesz. His black & white iconic masterwork, “The Fork” was created in 1920 and my re-mix is a color version using complimentary colors of blue and yellow to […]

The Oxidation of Memory

I have been a photographer for a long time now, nearly 20 years come to think of it, and about 7 years ago I learned the hard way about having a back up of my back up’s. A hard drive I was using to store nearly the entire archive of my digital photographs up to […]

Night Walk

Bangkok is an entirely new city from day to night. Spending time out exploring made that abundantly clear. The energy jumps around like its has no place to land but is landing everywhere at the same time. The image is printed on thick high quality archival Epson Hot Press Bright paper with Epson pigment ink, […]

Heliotrope

Heliotrope describes a color, a flower and is a symbol of eternal love and devotion. Heliotrope is a frenetic and colorful expression that depicts the intensity of a powerful love. The wide range of subjects shown symbolize the uncertainty and untethered energy that new love can bring about. This piece does not offer resolution but […]

Contentment

Contentment is a meditative piece built around design, color and balance of visuals and objects. By exploring the way nature and time affects man made material (and therefore people) we see patterns, tonality, contrasting passages and textures that create a perfectly balanced meditative experience. 2019, 26.5″ x 26.5″ x 4.25″
