Tell us about yourself! Steven Goossen is an American photographer, musician and film maker whose style has been described as “moody” and “surreal”. Steven earned a Bachelor Degree in Telecommunications and Film in 1995 from Eastern Michigan University with a concentration in cinema and aesthetic philosophy. During his time Eastern Michigan University, Steven was awarded a presentation at The Undergraduate Student Symposium, an event honoring excellence in research and study, of a film made as an independent study. Of the film, which was a cinematic adaptation of Emily Dickinson’s poem ‘I Heard A Fly’, Professor Emeritus John Cooper stated the piece could stand alone as a Masters thesis at NYU. While Photography continued to be a hobby, Steven focused much of the creative years of 1993-2011 composing and performing abstract music both as a solo artist and within a loose musical collective known mostly as The Rustbelt Unsemble. In 2013 Steven was persuaded to pursue photography as full time pursuit. He has shown across the Midwest United States and Europe, and 2019 attained an Associate of Applied Science degree in photography from Washtenaw Community College
