  • Hey ECrs! How would I go about setting up a system to accept payments when selling my artwork? I’m pretty old school when it comes to this aspect of doing business…I don’t have a smart phone and my tablet doesn’t have a data plan, but I do have a business bank account. There just seems to be so many options, is there a safe way to allow…[Read more]

    • Without a smart phone, you’re going to have an uphill battle. I’d start by talking to your bank and see if there’s any way they can help your situation. They probably have a few options for you.

      • Thanks Steve! Now here’s a newb question. I have only used PayPal to make payments, what’s involved with accepting payments? Does it get direct deposited into your bank account?

        • I use PayPal for accepting payments and for online shopping. It stays in PayPal, but when you set up Paypal, it is linked to your bank account, so it is easy to transfer. I like to treat it like another account for art and fun, so if I receive paypal payments, I leave them in there. Some online stores, like Blicks, accept Paypal.

          • Thanks Linden! Are your sales in-person or mainly online? If in-person how does the customer use thier credit card to pay thru paypal? Or is that something they handle on thier phone? Do you know if there’s a tutorial to walk me thru?

            • Paypal is great for online, primarily. In person, it is easier to use square. I’ve bought art and sold art using paypal through the phone. It’s awkward, but do-able. I’m sure there’s lots of info on the paypal site. I believe there is even a swipe device for paypal, but I don’t have one.

    • Get a smart phone then all of your problems will be solved. If you are serious about selling art, you need to make it easy for your clients to do business with you.
