Title fine art student
State Michigan
Country United States (US)
Tell us about yourself! Allison Runyan was born in 1997 in Commerce Township, Michigan, and is currently studying Fine Art and Art Education at the College for Creative Studies. Runyan’s works veer towards sculpture assemblage of various materials, including found and recycled objects, string, yarn, and old toys to create interesting textures and levels of complexity within the pieces. Her works are shown together as large scale installations or “lands” to create a dynamic contrast with color and texture that border on the edge of “overwhelming.” Runyan creates works that provide an opportunity for a playful experience from first encounters and then conflicting thoughts upon further consideration. These so called “lands” of sculptural assemblages are where the playfulness and interactivity of the works create an atmosphere for all ages to share and enjoy these experiences together. Runyan’s recent exhibitions include; I Make My BIGGEST MOVES at 333 Midland gallery in Detroit, Finding Out About Feelings at the U245 Gallery in Detroit, and the WC Safe Voices Survivors Art Show at Holding House, Detroit. Runyan works as an art teacher in Detroit in various capacities including the Community Arts Partnership, non-profit organization in Detroit, an instructor for the College for Creative Studies continuing studies and education program and as a studio instructor at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
