Embrace Creatives is delighted to introduce our newest represented artist, Connecticut-based Shilo Ratner. Shilo’s paintings evoke an acute awareness and centered meditative state towards our daily surroundings using a tight, geometric abstract visual language.
Often using a horizon line as a reference point, her paintings evolve with varied opaque and translucent layers. Using time-based visual context for her paintings with sunrises and sunsets in color choices and titles, Shilo’s hyper-realistic execution of stillness through a complex network of lines indicates an almost suffocating state of our present-day reality.
Shilo is an extensive traveler, visiting Buddhist and Hindu temples in Malaysia and Indonesia. While in a rural village in Brazil, she had a powerful shift in consciousness that inspired her to create new work. Returning to contemporary life she now expresses work that is about the “whole” experience, embracing various spiritual and cultural experiences through a visual language.

Shilo’s work has been exhibited in the Museum of Contemporary Art, Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art, Mystic Museum of Art, and The Slater Memorial Museum. In, 2020 she was awarded Best in Show Juried by Geaninne Gutierrez-Guimaraes the Associate Curator at the Guggenheim Museum
For either contemporary or rustic projects, Shilo’s contemplative yet bold paintings range in size from 20 inches to 60 inches, and her use of browns and blues with pops of muted color will excite without overwhelm.
