As one of the first skills acquired by humankind, textile arts in their many forms are known for their intricacies, practicality and necessity. In this exhibit, three women artists push the boundaries of what defines textile art. Incorporating woven fiber optics, stitched three-dimensional photography and non traditional weaving techniques, “In the Beginning…” presents a new focus on techniques whose familiarity has desensitized our appreciation for this long-standing handcraft.
