Rose Senior Living in Farmington Hills, MI
I received an exciting email in the Summer of 2024 describing a senior facility development being built along with site information and a request for an art collection for their residents, staff and guests to enjoy. Nestled on 15.6 acres in Farmington Hills, MI, developer Edward Rose & Sons has completed an independent and assisted living facility to support over 200 seniors.
As this was the premier art collection for an Edward Rose & Sons senior residence, we collaborated with the Senior Architectural Designer on a thoughtful catalog. Working within strict guidelines including branding, design style, and the specific needs of the senior community, Embrace Creatives curated an art collection of 126+ unique pieces and small batch reproductions for the public spaces. Sourced from a mixture of emerging and mid-career American and international artists, the collection spans an array of mediums, styles and sizes.
Residents, staff, and guests are welcomed into the lobby by a two story fireplace enhanced with a custom rose diptych painting by Canadian-based artist Bob Arringo. While searching for artwork to enliven a 40 foot wall space inside a dining hall, I remembered a contemporary ninety-one piece installation crafted from acrylic, spray paint and oil by New York-based artist partner Jason Paradis. In the public lobby area we installed three original oil paintings by Brian Skol that tell the story of metro Detroit’s iconic Cranbrook and Meadowbrook Hall connecting seniors to local history. While inside the private dining room, the warmth of family is celebrated through a series of four abstract landscape paper by New York-based artist partner Kyle Andrew Philips that converse easily with floral paintings by local artist partners, Samah Kthar and Shadia Derbyshire.
This senior living community’s art collection showcases diverse art styles that speak to joy and calm while keeping to Edward Rose & Son’s brand identity and aesthetics. Although there was a request for few abstracts, six mesmerizing modern photographs by photographer Debbie Lucas grace the Grand Place event room. Debbie travels the world photographing lakes and rivers then digitally morphs the commonplace images into contemporary patterns.
