Artwork Details
“Citrus Teardrop” is part of a new series of sculptural wood vessels. It is turned on the lathe, laminated, and hand carved to create the shape and texture. Then the finish is applied with many coats of tinted lacquer and sanded. Then several more coats of clear lacquer are applied. The result is a hollow vessel that looks like it could be new or old, but is definitely unique.
About Artist
STATEMENT
I make vessels (some as large as a person), carved, painted panels to hang on the wall and sculpture. They are turned and carved from a variety of local hardwoods. I have developed a vocabulary of different textured surfaces, some painted, some with natural wood grain. I tend towards simple, organic shapes that evoke natural objects but seem to have a utilitarian soul.
