DRAWING WITH LIFE The SunPrint reinvents one of the earliest photographic processes which resulted in images on paper that mirrored botanical pressings made from a variety of naturally-occurring objects such as ferns, pine cones, leaves, wild flowers, insects, shells, seaweed and wild grasses. My work invokes the ephemeral delicacies of the natural world trying to elevate this technique to a mystical idiom, one more expressive of the “anima” ,the essence of all living things frozen in time. This was the desire of the early photographic pioneers 150 years ago; they wished simply to draw with life. This Hand-painted cyanotype SunPrint of botanical/floral motif is like a Valentine.
