Crossing Paths

This abstract is a composite of icy details frozen on the pavement – one of my favorite subjects to hunt and capture. It may seem easy, but it is not. Just because it is there, doesn’t mean it is good. We, as artists, have to sort out the good from the bad, and learn to recognize what makes a good composition. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but it is all in good fun with thoughtful efforts. I felt energized and inspired when I went out for my (cold) morning walk. I ended up spending a lot of time photographing the sidewalk – how strange I must have appeared to my neighbors! I love the simplicity of this image, its natural abstraction, its texture, and the colors I was able to draw out of the original image. The infinite supply of inspiration from nature never fails to amaze me.
