Alternate Reality

I have always been fascinated by creating composite images, but without a real darkroom, my options were limited. And then digital technology came along and opened up all the doors and windows that had been closed to me. Most of my composites have been or were created during the great pandemic of 2020. Travel time being limited, and creativity slightly stifled by the times, I decided it was time to educate myself on creating these unique beauties. This image is one of my earlier successes. I believe that there are forces leading me to subject matter that keeps its secrets locked up until I open them up in my digital editing software. Like all things modern, the art world continues to evolve and change, re-directing and re-inventing, constantly surprising and never dull. This image is full of contradictions- prickly and soft, cold and warm, defined and amorphous, yet it all works to create an alternate reality.
