20in x 16in oil on tempered hardboard palette knife painting. Protected with Windsor Newton Conser-art mineral soluble acrylic gloss varnish. The painting is ready to hang in a 3 inch gold frame, by 1.5 inch depth. Overall hanging size is 26 by 22 inches. This is part of a series of canoe paintings that originated during an artist's retreat at a Summer camp during the off-season in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, near Lexington, VA. The painting was exhibited at Benfield Gallery in Maryland as part of the "Ebersberger Influence" show, and was awarded third place by juror Abigail McBride.

STATEMENT
It is folly to attempt to record a world in flux; but the challenge of open-air painting compels me to capture that evasive effect. The process is as valuable as the end result – concentrated work that heightens the present with a sense of urgency. To see the world in the unique way of an artist is in itself endlessly entertaining; and engaging with it in paint, even more so.
