Some golf pieces are based on specific holes I find aesthetically pleasing. I spend a lot of time watching golf- no tournament is too small. While watching I take a lot of screenshots and notes, then will research pictures, often using maps and satellite imagery, to create my composition. Hole 17 at Pebble Beach fascinates me because I am drawn to the shapely, playful bunkers. While I'm certain I'd bogey this hole while playing, it more than makes up for it with its visual opulence.
