This piece is part of a series I created during my TEAD One Artist Residency from July - September, 2023. The series of paintings focused on different aspects of the Divine Feminine. This piece - titled "Cradle" - is about the act of creation and the beginning of all things. It could be argued that creation is the ultimate womanly abilities, the most obvious being the birthing of humans. Whether it's maternal or not, Femininity often encompasses nurturing and growing of people, things, and homes, and is symbolized by the womb-like shape in the painting. It is pretty in pastel colors and surrounded by fleshy red throughout the rest of the canvas.

My artwork explores the dissolution of material and figurative imagery, depicting the abstract essence and energy of life. I draw inspiration from my personal psychology. My mental health has given my life very difficult and also very beautiful moments. These are translated in my work through color, form as well as the physicality of paint. The repetitious layering of, taking away, and re-application of color underneath automatic scrawling, scratching and mark-making express my inner psyche – the way I think about myself and the world around me; This can be rough and harsh, and sometimes it is gentle and loving.More About Artist
