The sun setting in a sparse winter forest casts beautiful shadows across the hill. This 20×20 painting was primarily painted with a palette knife, and is a vibrant symphony of colors. The loose technique of scraping creates soft textures. The sky color is phthalo blue, cobalt blue and light blue. The sunset casts peach, purple, yellow and red tints in the snow. The sunset color fades across the scene revealing a lighter purple, pinks and white shades. Tall birch trees cast paynes grey shadows. Gallery wrapped, satin finish.
Michigan has an amazing color palette, and the change in seasons inspire me. This inspiration is reflected in pieces that are textured or colorful. I also like to play with movement of light and shadows. My favorite subjects to paint are trees and landscape. My favorite tool to paint with is a palette knife.More About Artist
