I design and produce unique lighting with wood. From concept to product, I develop my designs by continuously considering both the aesthetics and the restraints of manufacturability. My portfolio is dedicated to distinctive designs, meaning that I will never imitate existing designs. This guarantees to my customers that their Strake lighting will not be mistaken as average, plain, or uninteresting. Hardwoods are used exclusively in Strake lighting, and each light is individually handcrafted in my workshop.
The decision to transition from hobby to sales came naturally as people who saw my projects expressed demand for my work. After browsing the lighting market, it became clear that handcrafted wooden lighting is nearly unavailable. Of the available “luxury” wood lighting, most are printed wood patterns on plastic or metal, missing the warmth and natural tone of solid wood, yet still requesting “luxury” pricing. Taking another step, I found that the quality of “luxury” lighting is often poor, characteristic of cost savings for mass production.
My motivation comes from the satisfaction of my customers who desire artisanal lighting which big-box retailers cannot imitate because of the burden of intricate production methods. I am fundamentally a maker. I guarantee that, in seeing my products in person, my pride in the Strake brand and attention to quality is conspicuous. For interior designers who consider even the finest details of the space, Strake fills their lighting needs that otherwise would be settled on an expressionless light from a “luxury” catalog.
