ABOUT THE ARTIST

STATEMENT

When I paint, my creativity takes over and I can't stop till it is poured out on the canvas. I am inspired by the beauty of nature, the basic contrast of shades of light and dark, the simple tilt of the head or the expression on a child's face.

My use of acrylics to create art is focused on nature, travels, human expression and interaction. I feel my colorful paintings show the beauty of life. I see my artwork as snapshots of daily life, and the beauty of nature rather than just strictly art, and it is my hope that they will encourage viewers to think more deeply about calming thoughts and treasuring the moments.

BIO

The artwork of Cheryl L. Haithco has evolved many times from high school art classes to majoring in art at Mercy College, to now. Over the years, Cheryl enjoyed designing and making jewelry with local jewelers from carving waxes for fine jewelry at Weinstein Jewelers in West Bloomfield, MI to jewelry renderings at Charles Kent Reaver Diamonds and eventually creating her own designs with pearls and semi precious stones and fun costume jewelry.

After working as a non profit fundraising professional for over 19 years, the past ten years has slowly drawn her back to her first passion from childhood; drawing and painting.

Cheryl feels honored to have been accepted and shown her work in a number of juried art shows which include the Birmingham Our Town Art Show in 2010, 2018, and 2019. As a member of the Farmington Artist Foundation, her work was showcased in the annual Farmington Spring Art Exhibit in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Her paintings have been on display in the Costick Center Art Gallery in Farmington Hills and in September of 2013 she was the featured artist in the Downtown Farmington Library.

Additionally, Cheryl's paintings have been featured at Mi.Mosa Restaurant in Downtown Farmington, MI, The City of Berkley Public Library, Vitrine Gallery and Gifts, Berkley, MI., Bizzy Buzz Artisan Market in Rochester Hills, MI. As a member of the Detroit Fine Arts Breakfast Club she had the opportunity to display and sell her paintings in the Palmer Park Art Fair, Arts Beats and Eats,The Torch of Wisdom Annual Art Exhibit and Auction, Matrix Human Services Artworks Detroit, “Visions of Detroit” at the Charles H. Wright Museum, and the Emerge Art Festival at the Kayrod Gallery, and Cause and Affect Gallery in Fenton, MI

In January 2019 two of her paintings were juried into the two year display at the Farmington Hills City Hall and has been extended through 2022. Henry Ford Health Systems purchased three of her paintings for its personal collection. Cheryl L. Haithco's paintings have found homes throughout the United States. Painting helps her to relive travels, experiences, and allowing those feelings to spread to others.
