A LOOK INSIDE THE ARTIST’S STUDIO.

DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL WORKING ENVIRONMENT.

“My second studio in our house at the Wittensee in Schleswig-Holstein has everything what I need. Amazing nature around it for long walks with so many painting motifs.”

WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO MAKE ART?

“I find my inspiration on walks in northern German landscapes and seas of flowers, also atmy second home on Lake Wittensee in Schleswig-Holstein. I photograph special moments and later paint and fill them on canvas with acrylic or oil paint in the studio.”

WHO OR WHAT INFLUENCES YOUR STYLE?

“I learned from well known artists in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein over the years. Mostly influence in the beginning had the french artists Claude Monet. I can´t see enough from his water lilies. Today I let myself inspire from nature and how I feel, when I look at the motifs or a scene in a landscape. This influences me the most.”

I capture the whisper of the water and the play of light here at a water lily pond. The water lilies bathe peacefully in the sun. The scene reflects peace and harmony. I want to bring this atmosphere into every room, an oasis of serenity that invites the viewer to pause and take a deep breath.

DO YOU CREATE SPONTANEOUSLY OR ARE YOU A PLANNER?

“I create most of the time spontaneously. The painting is in my thoughts for days or usually weeks. It lives there and then some day its ready to show up.”

IF SOMEONE CAME TO YOU WITH A DREAM PROJECT, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

“I would love to paint paintings in acrylic or oil on a very large scale for a museum wall with a place to sit in front of it where people can take their time to let it sink in and feel it.”

WHY DOES YOUR ART STAND APART FROM OTHER WORKS CREATED USING SIMILAR MEDIA?

“My paintings invite you into the magic and the fairy-tale of nature and my interpretation of things. The immersion in the process of painting my pictures allows me to live a kind of spiritual life for which I am very grateful. It is like painting poetry and pleasure in colours, my resource for strength, happiness and joy. The viewer can see and feel it. My pictures develop from the depth of my soul.”

Bunch of Flowers. 100 x 100 centimeters / 39.5 x 39.5 inches. Acrylic on canvas.
WHAT LIFE EXPERIENCES HAVE INFLUENCED YOUR ART THE MOST?

“Growing up in a home, where my parents had paintings, bought mostly in Denmark in antique stores in every room and antique furniture from the time of Louis Philippe all over the house, was an inspiration. My mother took care, that every colour fits in the scheme. She loves to decorate things like the dining table. All of this influenced my work. It matters what the table looks like and how I feel in a beautiful environment. Also because of this I feel the need to produce paintings, which evolve a home or office space to a place where you can breathe, take your time to wonder and feel your feed on the ground.”

DESCRIBE A “GREAT” STUDIO DAY. 🙂

“Oh, this is when everything falls into place. The painting in my head for weeks starts to unfold and begins to come alive on the canvas. I am feeling the flow. No one is ringing the door bell. Music is on. I am just alone with the new scene before me and I vanished into it for hours.”

TELL US SOMETHING FUN ABOUT YOURSELF.

“I love to sing when I am painting. I love to sing very loud. Not always right, but its great for me. This is the reason why I paint alone, lol.”

WHAT FAMOUS PERSON WOULD YOU LIKE TO OWN YOUR ARTWORK?

“I would love, if a painting of mine is hanging in the house of the amazing speaker and author Mel Robbins from the Let Them Theory.”
