ACRYLIC AND INK SING IN HEATHER PATTERSON’S DEVOTION TO THE ENVIRONMENT

Colorado-based artist Heather Patterson joined Embrace Creatives as artist partner in 2024. Inspired by the organic beauty of our natural world, her paintings are alive with movement. The paint and ink strokes stretch and sprawl like living extensions of land itself.  Each bee hive, topography design, and radial shape invites you to find new ways to interact with the artwork, transforming the act of viewing into a sensory experience. In addition, Heather uses her artwork to remind viewers of the fragility of our world.

With artwork installed inside commercial properties like the Hilton Waikiki, Waikiki, HI and large-scale public murals in Boulder, CO, Heather boasts a successful practice and is a reliable artist producing artwork suitable for high-end residential, hospitality and commercial projects needing new and contemporary pieces.

Heather’s artworks explore her commitment to our world and a healthy environment.

“Focusing on mapping the natural landscape, my work is a documentation of the topography of our environment. I recreate geographic patterns that I find, and then layer them to make up a new series of abstracted terrain. Through layering several layers of paint, ink, pigment, and acrylic mediums, a sense of micro vs macro evolves. Some layers are poured and have a random and uncontrolled effect while others are stenciled to create a mapped reaction of what is below the surface. The contrast and flow of these overlapping elements reflect my experience in the landscape we live in and the need to preserve our ever-changing climate.”

Using a combination of oversized abstract forms swirling below thoughtful ink strokes, Heather’s paintings evokes a birds eye view of our earth’s landscape and seascapes. Her work is both graceful, charged with electricity and an important reminder that we are all stewards of our land.
