Creativity is Still Humming From the Studio of This Surrealist Artist and Musician from Detroit.

The one thing we admire about our artists is their ability to continue to do their art even through crisis. Embrace Creatives is checking in with our global members to find out how they’re spending their @ home time, creating and doing business.

Welcome to Inside Empowerment.

Let’s meet M. Markham

EC: Give us a brief introduction.
M. Markham: I’m an artist, graphic designer, and musician from Detroit showing my audience the beautiful ugly side of life that has no boundaries through surrealism and pop art.

EC: Where in your home do you spend the most time?
M. Markham: My living room.

EC: What’s the biggest challenge you face being self-quarantined?
M. Markham: Being that I’m an artist who spends a lot of time in isolation creating art, not much has changed for me. I just miss being able to go out in general.

EC: What’s the best part about being self-quarantined?
M. Markham: Being able to focus on all the art and music projects I’ve been wanting to get caught up on.

EC: Has your artwork or process changed or adapted?
M. Markham: It hasn’t changed, I’m just producing more.

EC: How have your social media posts changed?
M. Markham: I’m posting more to my YouTube channel and maintaining around the same number of posts to my other social media channels.

EC: What’s your favorite online source for studio (art) tools and materials?
M. Markham: Kobra Paint and Blick

EC: How are you spending your free time?
M. Markham: Honestly, I’ve mainly been spending my free time to ramp up my art production and social media posting. I’ve used this time more to focus on what I’m already doing as opposed to seeking out anything new.

EC: Are you doing something new doing during this challenging time that you will stick with?
M. Markham: I’m growing more as a person through techniques and methods I will continue to use throughout my life.
