Portfolio Review Detroit Brought a Valuable and Long Lasting Opportunity to Local Artists.

On October 20, 2019 we brought 13 artists and 10 reviewers together for our premier Portfolio Review continuing our mission to unite artists with commercial buyers and arts professionals.

The Detroit Center for Design + Technology in Midtown hummed with intense energy and important conversations from 10am to 5pm as diverse reviewers (gallery directors, executive directors, curators and media professionals) took turns speaking with artists about their practice and where they can bring their work.

There hasn’t been a fine art and design review in Detroit since the 70’s and bringing artists with commercial buyers together is our mission so we knew that this initiative was going to be a success, and it was.

Artists told us that;

The face to face interaction, invaluable perspective into my artwork & direction

Tim S., fine artist

The reviewers gave me a new perspective on my work and point me in directions I hadn’t considered.

Steve C., graphic artist

The EC Portfolio Review was a valuable opportunity have my work seen by members of the art community that I otherwise would not have access to. I appreciated the feedback and discussions I had with the reviewers, along with suggestions for exhibition venues and opportunities.

Sue S., sculptor

And the Reviewers thought our event was wonderful, saying;

The most valuable part of the event to me was helping artists get to the place they want to be. I have a teacher’s soul and like to help people move along their path.

I became a reviewer in order to find some new, promising artists for my gallery, and I did!

Hatch Gallery, Hamtramck, MI

Had a fantastic time, and met some wonderful artists!

Learning from our participants, we’re going to present an even BETTER Portfolio Review in 2020! We’ve set the tentative date for Sunday, October 18th so watch for pre-registration in May of 2020.
